Purpose

Adhesives, bonding agent, emulsion stabilizer, fragrance, viscosity increasing agent (water-based)

This is derived from the grinding of the seeds of carob ceratonia siliqua.

It is used as a water-soluble thickener to help moisturize the skin and increase the viscosity of cosmetics.

It is also used to help stabilize ingredients that do not mix together.
